This plate is part of a collection of display platters commissioned by ‘Pick Up Pintxos’ in Folkstone.
The design on the fish is made from strips and coils of coloured clay.

The vase entitled ‘Circles of Life’ starts at its base and moves upwards and symbolises man’s journey through life.

17.52. Agate ‘Zebra’ Fruit Bowl
The bowl is made from black and white clay and the spiral effect reminds me of the coat of a zebra. The bowl is glazed inside but the exterior is unglazed. There is a stark contrast between the rough and the smooth.

15.01 ‘Sun Flares’
The pattern is inspired by sun flares. The exterior is not glazed so giving a matt finish.

15.02 ‘Rock Striations’
The design is inspired by layers of rock compressed over time. The agate design is created by rolling red terracotta and white earthernware clay together and then cutting sections which are then rolled flat so creating a random design. The clay is then cut out and slab built.

The pattern is inspired by the sky as the sun sets with flashes of red and the white of the clouds.

Watching the sea ebb and flow inspired the pattern for this plater. The pot is not glazed so that the texture of the clay and the design created by the white clay speak for themselves.
